Practical Information

How to reach the Residence "Le Benedettine" from the Airport

(1) Probably, the best way to reach the accomodation is with a Taxi.

It is more expensive than the alternatives, though.

(2) The alternative is to go first form the Airport to the Central Train Station.

The easiest way is to take the Pisa Mover http://pisa-mover.com/en/.

It departs for the Airport (go out of the main exit of the Airport, then go to the left.

You will have to walk for 100 meters, more or less, and you will see the indications).

The Pisa Mover will take you to the central Train Station in 5 minutes.

(3) The Residence is only 800 meters away from the Central Train Station.

You can walk this distance, but if you arrive at night I would advise against that, as the area close to the Train Station is not very nice.
However, there is plenty of buses that you can take: as there are a couple different routes that you can follow, the best option is probably to check this link when you arrive:

In any case: to take a bus, go out of the main train station exit and you find the departure area of the buses on the right (50 meters or so).

The best option is to take Line 6, as this stops very close to the Residence.

Unfortunately, this bus runs every 40 minutes; so the next best option is to take pretty much any other bus (e.g. Lam Verde or Lam Rossa, which run very often).

Get off from the bus at the stop "Crispi 2" (it should be the third stop, according to the bus company' website).

From there, it is a 5 minutes walk: see the following link

How to reach the Mathematics Department from the Residence "Le Benedettine"

If the weather is nice, probably the best option is to walk: the Department is a 20 minutes walk away from the Residence.

The best route is: exit the Residence on Lungarno Sidney Sonnino.

Walk to your right and cross the second bridge that you find (called "Ponte di Mezzo").

Cross the square "Piazza Garibaldi".

Then you will have to go straight in "Borgo Stretto" (which at a certain point changes name becoming "Via Guglielmo Oberdan") for 400 meters.

On your right, you will find "Via San Lorenzo". Take that, walk straight for 400 meters and you will arrive right in front of the Math Department.

The detailed route can be found here:

The alternative option is to take a bus.

The best choice is to take Line 4 (which runs every 20 minutes or so) from the bus stop "Crispi 2" (which is less than 300 meters from the Residence).

The Math Department is less that 20 meters away from the stop "Buonarroti 2". You can check the route here:

Places where to grab lunch/dinner

Pisa is full of small restaurant/pubs where to have lunch/dinner.

Our only suggestion is to try to avoid the area close to "Piazza dei Miracoli", as it is a tourist place where you will pay too much for a quality which is way too low.
